Where Have I Been? (And Where Are We Going)

It's been a while.

A long while, actually.

The last time I sat down to write one of these, it was February. I'd just come out of hospital, restarted the ads, and felt like momentum was finally building.

And then… life happened again.

If I'm being honest — and that's kind of the whole point of these blogs — the months since February have been tough. Not just physically this time, but mentally too.

Mental health is one of those things nobody really wants to talk about in business. Everyone's posting their wins. Their growth charts. Their "crushing it" moments.

But the reality of running a small business — especially alone, especially while managing your health — is that some days you just don't have it in you.

And that's okay.

It has to be okay.

The Hardest Part

The hardest part wasn't the hospital visits or the slow days.

It was the noise in my own head.

Am I investing time in the right things? Is this worth it? What should Little Cutlery actually be?

Those questions aren't easy to answer when you're running on empty.

So instead of forcing it, I stepped back.

I thought about what I actually wanted to build. What was worth my time and energy. What direction made sense — not just for the business, but for me and my family.

What's Been Happening Behind the Scenes

While things went quiet here on the blog, they didn't go quiet everywhere.

The website got a complete overhaul. New hero banner. Better product descriptions. Improved page speed. Proper SEO. Alt text on every image. The kind of unglamorous behind-the-scenes work that nobody sees but Google definitely notices.

We launched photo frames.

We launched a silicone personalised placemat and bowl range.

And quietly — without much fanfare — our conversion rate climbed from 0.41% to over 1%.

That's not nothing.

That's actually everything.

Where We're Going

I've made some decisions about what Little Cutlery is and what it's going to be.

Personalised gifts are at the heart of it. Always will be. But we're growing beyond just cutlery — into giftware, frames, keepsakes and mealtime essentials that parents actually love.

And the blog?

It's coming back.

Not once a year. Not when I remember. Regularly. Honestly. With actual useful content for parents and gift buyers — guides, gift ideas, behind the scenes and the occasional honest update like this one.

Because if there's one thing I've learned this year, it's that people connect with real.

Not perfect. Not polished.

Real.

Thanks for Sticking Around

If you've ordered from Little Cutlery — thank you. Genuinely.

Every order means someone trusted us with something that matters. A new baby. A christening. A birthday. A keepsake.

That's not lost on me.

We're back. We're building. And this time we're doing it with a clearer head and a better plan.

See you in the next one. 😊
